Confidentiality

As a professional counseling psychologist, Barrington Brennen subscribes to a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice which require him to protect the confidentiality of his communications with clients.

As a client, you are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/counselor relationship. The counselor will keep confidential anything you say to him, with the following exceptions: (1) you direct him to tell someone else, (2) He determines you are a danger to yourself or others, or (3) His is ordered by a court to disclose information. He will NOT in anyway inform his employers, colleagues in the ministry, your church friends, or family members, that you are in therapy.

The counseling office is designed to facilitate privacy and professional confidentiality. You need not worry about someone sneaking in on your counseling session, or the counselor, revealing to anyone that you were there or any information you discussed with him.
