- THE BEGINNING
- On Sabbath, October18, 2003 the Gambier
Seventh-day Adventist Church got of to a great start with
more
than 50 persons in attendance. The morning began with a lively song service
lead by Betty Culmer. Surely the presence of the Lord was with the new
believers as they swelled their voices singing praises to God.
Three Sabbath School Classes were
established namely: Primary, Early Teens, and
the Adult Classes, lead by Marcella Moncur, Barbara Dean and Rodwell Dean (a
local elder) respectively.
Dr. Leonard Johnson, our Conference President, brought greetings and
encouraged the fledgling group
of believers and pledge his support to the growth and development of the
Gambier Church. The day came to a climax as our Pastor T. Basil Sturrup
preached a powerful sermon from the Book of John 6:1-10 entitled
"Do It Again Lord." After service light
refreshments were served and we went into the community to is tribute
Christian literature to residents of the community. Indeed it was
a high day in Zion.
