Son of Adventist Bahamian Wins First Medal in France Leevan Sands, 22, is the son of Elaine Sands of Centreville Church, Nassau.   Triple jumper Leevan Sands popped 56 feet 6 inches last night in the Stade-de-France at the 9th International Association of Athletics Federations World Outdoor Championships in Athletics for the bronze medal win to put The Bahamas on the medal table.  Nassau Guardian Article for August 26, 2003

John Carey, Adventist Parliamentarian, Speaks on Criminal Punishment Member of Parliament for Carmichael, John Carey, advocated in the House of Assembly on Wednesday that in the wake of constant robberies and rapes, it is time to bring back the Cat-O-Nine tail, amend the law to allow lethal injection, or "throw away the key" on malicious criminals.  Nassau Guardian Article December 4, 2002

Adventist Wins Bronze Medal at CAC Games  When Patricia Ferguson captured the country's first medal at this year's XIX Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador, she was emotionless. It wasn't until later when she returned to the village, surrounded by fellow Bahamians that she became overwhelmed with her accomplishment.
