Conference Office Nears Grand Opening
Expected for this grand occasion are local and internal church dignitaries and members of government, among other special guests. Dr. Isreal Leito, president of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, will head the list of church officials while Sir Orville Turnquest, Governor General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, will lead the list of local guests.
With approximately two weeks to go, the paving and landscape are nearing completion. Daily both members and, passers-by express approval with the tasteful and pleasant site that this headquarters has added to the landscape along Harrold Road. Indeed, it is a landmark within the nation's capital. While the administration is pleased with the complex, they are more gratified by the fact this building stands as a testimony, a concerted and combined effort on the part of God's faithful partners. Additionally, this headquarters is seen as a monument to God's blessing through which He communicates hope and salvation for all.
Members can truly be proud of this accomplishment. It is as a result of your prayers and your doing. As there are so many of us, thus making it impossible to accommodate all persons for the grand opening on March 4, pre- guided tours will be provided as of Wednesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 23 between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for members interested in visiting headquarters. In fact, many member have already toured the building.
As we plan for this great day, we request your prayers and your continual financial support so that our presentation will once again cause our entire nation to take notice of the work and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Bahamas. -Editor

SOUTH ANDROS CONVENTION 2001
After experiencing the uplifting music, the shoul-stirring sermons, the dynamic reports and the fellowship of convention in Nassau, we in South Andros could hardly wait for the excitement to come to us.
To learn that Pastor E. D. Clarek and Pastor Edward St. Fleur would be our conference representatives our anticipation increased tremendously.
The New Macedonia Church in Johnson Bay was made ready. Thanks to Pastor and Sister Marva Boateng, Elder Norwood R. Rahming, officers and members of that church.
Excited members of the newly formed Branch Sabbath School in Driggs Hill and members of the Kemp's Bay Church all converged on New Macedonia for the start of convention on Friday, February 2, 2001.
Providing special music for the evening was the newly formed children's choir conducted by Sis. Deborah Perriot. Although we were disappointed that illness prevented Pastor St. fleur from making the trip, Pastor Clarke more than made up for the deficit. Taking his text from Psalm 37:1 Pastor Clarke encouraged us to stay "United in the Word of God" as we conquer the enemy together.
Convention Sabbath began with a trip down memory lane as participants reminded us of our Adventist heritage. Pastor Boateng then shared the "Secrets of Victory," as he used David's prayer of penitence in our joint lesson study.
The Holy Spirit moved mightily as Pastor Clarke with his infectious smile punctuated his sermon with anecdotes that left lasting impression on his listeners. In his sermon, he admonished the congregation not to allow age disparity or person attributes to separate us from the love of God -who sees all His children as equals regardless of their past.
A fellowship meal at the South Andros High School followed the service. Members from each group shared the sumptuous meal prepared for the occasion.
On Sunday night; even in the absence of both pastors, who left to officiate at a funeral in Freeport, convention continued. Following a lengthy song service and other preliminaries, Continued on page 2
SOUTH ANDROS CONVENTION 2001 Continued from p. 1
Elder C. Miller of Kemp's Bay ignited the crowd with his report. Plans for the relocation, completion and dedication of the new church were revealed.
Elder Amos flowers of the 'Baby' in Driggs Hill related the successful beginning of the Branch Sabbath School. He is confident that under God and with the cooperation of the brethren an established church will soon be in Driggs Hill.
Elder N. R. Rahming, assisted by Sis. M. Forbes then shared highlights of last years activities and plans for this year. Plans such as completion of landscaping church grounds, upgrading the pre-school's interior and extending the pastor's study and choir rooms.
With a commitment to remain "United in the Word of God," South Androsians, edified by the Word' hope for a 2nd convention later in this year. To god be the glory; great things He has done for us.
