Children Conduct
Evangelistic Series
Recognizing that adults are given the
awesome mandate from God to train up the children in the way they
should go, the Children’s Ministries Department organized the
children of the Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Nassau to conduct
a series of meetings (April 6- 12, 2008) at the Living Faith Church,
Old Trail Road. Under the theme, “Shaping Lives for Eternity,” the
Children’s Crusade commenced on Sunday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m. This
one-week series was exciting, fun-filled, but above all spiritually
uplifting, as its ultimate goal was to lead children to Jesus.

Each night,
the boys and girls and parents alike looked forward to a rousing song
service, an exciting gift time, the hilarious special feature from the
puppetry team, and the inspired Word of God presented by a child. “Wow!”
could you imagine children presenting the sermonettes? The Bible says
that a little child shall lead them.
What
powerful, soul searching sermonettes were presented as each child in his
or her own creative way, through illustrations, shared God’s Word! On
Sunday night, Joshua Belizaire spoke on the topic, “The Bible – the Word
of God.” He emphasized that the Bible is the most outstanding book of
all books.
Monday
night, Alexie Richardson presented the sermonette on the topic “The
Trinity”— God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Javano
Aime was the speaker on Tuesday night, and he spoke on “The Creation.”
At the end of the creation week, man was the crowning act of creation.
Prayer was
the topic on Wednesday night, and it was presented by Dominique Baker
and Kimoye Dawkins. They agreed that we are to pray without ceasing.
On Friday night, Keith Stubbs, Jr. spoke on the topic “Christian
Behavior and Family Life.” How we conduct ourselves indicate whether we
are children of God or Satan.
On Sabbath,
April 12, during the 11 a.m. Divine Service, Brandon Toote and Newton
Joseph culminated the week with the topic, “Worshiping God.” God is
above all, and as such He must receive all glory and praise; and we must
also remember His special day, the Sabbath, that He has created for us
to rest and keep Holy. At the end of the service, five precious souls
(one from the new Redemption Seventh-day Adventist Church) gave their
lives fully to God and were baptized. To God be the glory!
Hats off to
our Children’s Ministries leaders and parents of the various churches
who worked with and encouraged the boys and girls. Also, our Conference
Administrators, pastors and members who prayed for the series and
supported it must be commended.
Truly this
children’s evangelistic series will linger in the minds of many for a
long time. The boys and girls, leaders and adults are now looking
forward to the next children’s crusade with great anticipation. - Sister
Diane Jones, Children’s Ministries Director

Year Awards for the Ministry of Education, Adventist teacher, Marcia
Denise Musgrove was chosen from among 12 finalists, as the Teacher of
the Year for the period 2008-2010. The National Teacher Award program
is for teachers of 159 schools located on sixteen islands in the
Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The theme
for the gala black-tie affair which was held at the British Colonial
Hilton, Marlborough Street, was “Celebrating Quality Teachers: Achieving
our dreams through Education.” As reported in the Nassau Guardian for
April 5, 2008, “the National Teacher of the Year winner receives $7,000
in cash prizes from the Ministry of Education and local law firm Higgs
and Johnson; a weekend stay at a local resort and an all-expense paid
trip to an international conference and the prestigious Crystal Lamp of
Learning.

Musgrove is a science educator posted at C.V. Bethel Senior High Public
School. She is a Biology and Marine Science instructor, coordinates the
Magnet Marine Science program and is homeroom teacher for Grade 12C1.
Marcia is the second Adventist teacher in five years to be chosen as the
Teacher of the Year in The Bahamas.
She is a
graduate of Bahamas Academy, the College of The Bahamas and the College
of Charleston in South Carolina where she completed a B.Sc. in Marine
Biology (summa cum laude).
When asked
what she enjoys most about being a teacher she responds, “I enjoy the
energy and enthusiasm of youth, the intellectual stimulation of
learning, the opportunities for personal growth in an environment that
is demanding and socially dynamic, and most of all the privilege of
helping to build the community and nation I envision, by stretching the
minds of my students with new thoughts, experiences, hope and
possibilities.”
Ms. Musgrove
was selected as Teacher of the Year for C.V. Bethel High School. She
attributes her success as a teacher to an ‘on-growing’ faith in God and
expresses gratitude to many of her own teachers who inspired her career
choice, especially Cleomie Burrows, Edward Rolle and Dr. Ruby Major.
Ms. Musgrove
is an avid proponent of lifelong learning, a promoter of environmental
stewardship and a believer in community building. In March 2008, she

been afforded the privilege of sharing her passions for marine
conservation and education via radio and television.
Ms. Musgrove
is a member of the Grant’s Town SDA Church, having served in areas of
youth and music ministry via her local church and conference wide. She
is the 9th child of John Sr. & Evelyna Musgrove.
Literature Evangelism Emphasis Today we are pleased to bring to
your attention that the colporteur ministry has played a significant
role in getting the message of salvation to various segments of our
community. In fact, it was through the literature ministry that the
Advent Message was brought to the Bahamas. And it is still being used to
get the message out to every section of our field. But we need more
hands to take the truth-filled books and magazines to the people.
Although Ellen White made the following statements years ago, they are
still true today:
“There are
many places in which the voice of the minister cannot be heard, places
which can be reached only by our publications – the books, papers, and
tracts filled with the Bible truth that the people need.” (Colporteur
Ministry, p. 4).
“The same
ministry of angels attends the books that contain the truth as attends
The work of the minister” (Ellen White, Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 316).
Your hands
are needed to pass out the literature that contain the truth. You can
become a full-time, part-time or a student literature evangelist.
Contact Dr. John Carey for further details as to how you can become a
messenger of hope. Call 341-4021 or 324-0470.
