Evidence of God’s Awesome Power to Save
During the past five weeks of the Footprints of Jesus Gospel Campaign, we have seen evidences of the power of God working to change the lives of men and women. Many who once disregarded God’s Ten Commandments and health laws pledged, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to obey them. Enlightened by the dynamic preaching of Evangelist Glen Samuels and encouraged by diligent Bible counselors, these new believers have joined millions of their brothers and sisters around the world in preparing for the Second Coming of Jesus. Persons from various segments of our society who attended the meetings night after night testified of how the Word of God was made plain to them. Even those who were acquainted with the basic truths of the Bible gained new insights into the Word and forged a closer relationship with the Lord.

Throughout the campaign Evangelist Samuels emphasized the importance of walking in the footsteps of Jesus. This involves praying and studying the Word daily and living according to God’s Commandments. Old and new members saw the need to follow this path to eternal life.

The Bible counselors played a significant role in helping the new converts see the importance of making a decision to follow the path that Jesus invites all Christians to take. These witnesses for the Master spent many hours each week in the homes of the people who visited the meetings, praying for and explaining the Scriptures to them.

While visiting one of the persons who had been attending the Footprints of Jesus Gospel Campaign, a Bible counselor reviewed the points of doctrine listed on the Pledge Card. The gentleman agreed with everything that was explained to him, but he was concerned about the classes that he had been attending that conflicted with the time of the meetings. He also hesitated to make a full commitment for baptism because he was afraid to lose his job that required him to work on Sabbath. The Bible counselor encouraged him to step out in faith and ask God to honor his faith. With confidence and assurance, the Bible counselor prayed that God would intervene to cancel the classes and close down the job on Sabbath to allow the brother to attend the meetings and worship on Sabbath. God rewarded the brother’s faith and answered the Bible counselor’s prayer. The classes were cancelled and the job was closed down. Encouraged by the counselor, the brother responded to the appeal of the Evangelist and was baptized. A day after his baptism, the brother was held up at gun point, but this did not prevent him from attending the meetings. In spite of this trying circumstance, he is determined to serve the Lord in spirit and in truth.

During the second week of the Footprints of Jesus crusade, two Bible counselors visited a sister at her home to pray for her and encourage her continued attendance. When asked if she had special concerns, the sister requested that prayers be offered for her husband, who had not yet been able to attend the meetings due to his work schedule. She also expressed a desire to recommit her life to God, but she wished that her husband would be by her side. Prayer was offered for her husband, and she was told that God would work a miracle.

One week later, the Bible counselors returned to the sister’s house to have her sign the Pledge Card. By Divine design, the husband was at home. He sat listening attentively to the study and eagerly agreed to each faith factor. At the end of the review of the Pledge Card, he gladly signed it. Then with tears in his eyes and deep emotion in his voice, he prayed. He went on to tell how God spoke audibly to him two months before the meetings. He was told that two persons would come to witness to him about his soul salvation. He knew he had to surrender to God, and he did.

Despite his work schedule, this changed man stepped under the tent for the first time on Sabbath, April 10 and was baptized at the end of the service. Both he and his wife are now rejoicing in the blessed hope of the return of their Lord.

Praise God for His awesome power to save.

The Administration says Thanks As we meet under the tent for the final Sabbath celebration of the Footprints of Jesus Gospel Campaign, the administration of the Conference would like to say "thank you" to everyone who has contributed to the success of this campaign. On behalf of all the believers in the Bahamas Conference of S.D.A., we say special thanks to Evangelist Glen Samuels for allowing the Holy Spirit to use him to bless so many of us with his dynamic and Bible-based preaching. We will remember to "hush (our) fuss" and listen to the Word of God. Many thanks to the full-time and local Bible counselors for their diligent effort in visiting and counseling the new converts. Finally, we commend the pastors for their consistent support throughout the campaign. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Education Corner Two Sabbaths ago, we highlighted in this column some of the teachers who have taught at Bahamas Academy through the years. We have also been inviting all former students and graduates to register with our newly-formed alumni department by contacting Mrs. Marion Bethell at 393-8898.

We want to contact as many of the past students of Bahamas Academy as possible and inform them of the 90th anniversary and the celebrations we have planned to commemorate this event.

Our alumni department has been doing a wonderful job finding former students who are living in Nassau. However, there are two groups of students whom we are having difficulty finding. We need your help with this. First of all, we need names and addresses/telephone numbers of former students who are living abroad (United States, Canada, Europe, etc.), as well as students who attended Bahamas Academy in the early days (1940s - 1960s).

There are many former students living in the United States. We have phone numbers for past students like Michael Davis, Stanlyn and Ricardo Major, and Barbara McCalla. However, we need phone numbers for many others. Please help us locate the following people: Philip and Tony Franks, Mark Bowe, Esthermae Dean, Prince Rolle, Charles and Tamara Burke, Stephanie Mais, Charles Daville, Dolly Lightbourne, Rita Edwards, Gerard Daphenis, Dorothy Jennings, Gregory and Keva Miller, Donna and Marsha Stubbs, Beverly and Edoy McMillan, Daphne Seymour, Eleanor Adderley, Jannel Albury, Todd Beneby, Keffeanne Miller, Theresa and Rhonda Morrison, Sonia Moxey, Cala Josey, Sheena Moncur, Dedrie and Andrew Wells, Sandra Turnquest, Vanessa Sylvester, Ekwensi Hutcheson, Enero Cooper, Hugh Poitier, Domica Adamson, Mucomba Millar, Shenique Baton, Crystal Hepburn, Kimberley Miller, Latazia Miller, Blonneva Pinder, Albert Collie, Leander Moncur, Harold Saavedra, Deena Kemp, Anwar Pople, Veronique Ingraham, and Laurie Johnson.

We want to remind you to register your name and contact number if you have not already done so.
