Camp Meeting 2002

Young People, Rise Up And Walk…With God.

Theme: Inspired By The Past…Called To Shape The Future

God is a great God! Amen! We gathered at the Hillview Church every evening last week to hear Pastor Pete Palmer deliver God’s word to us. God never disappoints.

July 21, 2002 saw an unprecedented preparation process in the life of Camp Meeting. Seventh-day Adventist Youth gathered on three public parks and held mini concerts, distributed bread, provided free medical screening for the residents, and delivered the word of God. With one week to go, we prepared ourselves for another spiritual youth revival. Soon, the time was here.  See Camp Photos

Camp Meeting opened on Sunday night, July 28, 2002, with a radio broadcast over ZNS Radio. This message showed that God is a particular God, an ideal message to broadcast to the nation. Each night the message from the man of God presented life’s challenges and God’s solutions in a real, practical manner. We were challenged to live above the obstacles that Satan places in our way and to experience the overcoming power of God, by obeying His word and living a life of Godly discipline. On Sabbath, seven people committed themselves to God through baptism.

Last year at the youth revival, Pastor Braham challenged each member to learn the doctrines of the movement to which they belong and to have at least two texts to support their position. This year, Pastor Palmer challenged us to come down off this mountain top experience and to apply the message to our lives, take it to others and to better our communities.

God has given us a mandate to go and preach the Gospel to the entire world. Our world is the communities we live in. We are called to live holy, healthy lives, set Godly examples, and share his message with others.

In response to God’s call, the Youth Department will embark on an evangelistic campaign in November. During this time, there will be four simultaneous youth crusades, each lasting two weeks. There is room for Bible workers, musicians, and other participants.

God is calling you to do some work for Him. What is your answer?

Vacation Bible School at the Centreville Church The annual Vacation Bible School was held from July 1-13, 2002, from Monday to Friday. Although many other programs impacted on the anticipated attendance, this did not deter the organization and enthusiasm of the directors and other facilitators.

Each session was well designed under the theme "BUGS SAFARI: WHERE KIDS CATCH THE BUZZ OF GOD'S LOVE." Excitement increased daily because of the basic routine procedures, video presentation, activity songs taught by CD, audio tapes and the creativity of the dedicated and committed facilitators. The activity individualized booklets, helped students to see the wonders of bugs and other creatures, blended with memory verses that stimulated the buzz of God's love.

Nobody in attendance will soon forget the fun-packed trip to TropiKids. Freedom for fun was unlimited, and each student enjoyed the ride on the bus.

Craft time brought out the creativity of each child and deepened the patience of each teacher, since logical procedures had to be followed minutely in order to produce the various pieces.

The graduation ceremony was held on Sabbath, August 3, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. Due to unavoidable circumstances this arrangement had to be made. It was a grand occasion and we were assured of the presence of the Lord.

Dr. Michael D. Toote, Pastor, was the speaker. The Godly friendship of David and Jonathan, demonstrates the unity, love, joy and harmony that God's love is willing to buzz in each life. Pastor Toote sparkled his presentation with some childhood experiences that confirm that God hears the prayers of His children, and he can deliver us from wicked unkind persons.

The audience was encouraged to love one another under all circumstances remembering that "People are more important than things."

Enrollments Up in Adventist Schools Worldwide From Adventist News Network Worldwide enrollment in Seventh-day Adventist educational institutions grew by 11.4 percent last year, reports Humberto Rasi, education director for the Adventist Church. Rasi says he thanks God that many families in 145 countries "recognize the high importance and value of an Adventist education." All educational statistics will be included in the soon-to-be-released 2002 issue of World Report: Adventist Education Around the World, produced annually by the church’s department of education. Rasi says one notable statistic is the significant increase in secondary school enrollments--up by some 56,000 students. More than half of these new students come from homes that profess other faiths, he says. "This gives an opportunity for Adventist teachers and students to share their biblical convictions with the homes these students represent."

The total number of faculty, administration and staff grew by 5.2 percent. The number of educational institutions operated by the Adventist Church grew by 4.8 percent last year, from 6,064 in 2000 to 6,335 in 2001. There are nearly 1.2 million students attending Adventist educational institutions worldwide.
