From The Office of The President It is summer time, a period of vacation, travel and wondering what to do. The same could not be said of Volunteer Bahamas Adventist members who are working overtime and assiduously to complete the various projects to which they have committed themselves. Bro. Howard Barr and his team of five are in North Andros this weekend to continue the work on the Lowe Sound Church building. While two persons are in Long Island, Bro. Cecil Cartwright Sr. And his team are working to meet the September deadline for completing the Early Learning Center. Then Bro. Elvardo Perpall and his team are doing a great job in improving the Camp site.

Visits to each site coupled with regular briefings by Bro. Winston Ash, VBA President, have left me with a sense of gratitude and gratification. I am moved as I see men and women sacrificing and giving so willingly of their time, talents and themselves to ensure that the various capital development projects are attended to without expectations of remuneration. Truly, a spirit of volunteerism is very much alive.

However, I am equally concerned that such a spirit could be dampened through discouragement. To avoid this it is necessary that more persons come to the fore with words of encouragement and visible support.

No one is discouraged more easily than one who feels that he/she is doing his/her share and more while others are spectators. Thus, I make another appeal for added members, teachers and other school personnel, pastors, conference headquarter, workers and students to assist at one of the sites tomorrow and Monday. Since work continues at the ELC daily, parents may wish to take their teenagers and young adults to this site during the week. Besides receiving a scrumptious meal each day, the young people will benefit by being exposed to the skills and talents of some of our veteran builders as well as being kept out of trouble.

I am equally impressed with the level of support seen at the Camp site. I noted with interest a solid team of volunteers working with Director Andrew Burrows, supervising our children, cooking for them and providing wholesome activities. The number of stories depicting God’s blessings is awesome. I trust that some time will be found to chronicle those relating to non adventists coming to our aid in ways unexpected. I need not repeat what many of our members have done.

Additionally, there is structural engineer major who is interested in coming to our shores to work for 6 months with VBA at no charge. This volunteer is prepared to pay his fare to the Bahamas. We are simply seeking accommodation for this 21-year-old Junior at Pacific Union College.

Vacation Bible School teachers and workers are also to be commended for these annual experiences of fun and learning for youngsters, thus assisting SDA and Non-SDA parents. Keep up the great work!

Next weekend the Youth of our Conference will conduct their annual Youth Camp Revival with Pastor Burrows as speaker at Berea. You are all invited. I am told that these services will be innovative, exciting and are designed to appeal to all persons. The singing and drama will be "something else"! Don’t miss the meetings!

Following this series, Let God Speaks Prophecy Campaign with Evangelist Guy Nembhard will begin. Commencing on Saturday evening, September 13, at the Queen Elizabeth Sporting Complex, these will be the biggest evangelistic meetings ever conducted in the Bahamas. Please follow the countdown instructions so as to ensure a successful campaign.

Finally, I remind you to get involved, get involved in your church, in VBA, youth activities in our school or in some ministry. Your funds are also needed to support these projects. Together we can accomplish the unthinkable. Do your part today!

One Hundred Pathfinders and Adventurers Attend Camp Bamivoca 2003 Monday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m. about one hundred Pathfinders and Adventurers assembled for the official opening of Camp Bamivoca 2003. Relatives, friends, Bahamas Conference officers, and the Honourable Cynthia (Mother) Pratt, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, joined the campers for the opening ceremony. In a very sincere manner, the Deputy Prime Minister challenged the campers to take advantage of the opportunity given them to attend this camp. Dr. Leonard Johnson, Bahamas Conference President, explained that the aim of Camp Bamivoca was to help the children improve their interpersonal skills and assist with the development of their character. See Photos

The theme chosen for the duration of the camp (July 27 – August 3) is "Courage to Conquer." Also, an appropriate theme text was selected from Deuteronomy 31:6. It says:

" Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave nor forsake you."

Assisted by a capable team of officers and counselors, Pastor Andrew Burrows, Camp Director, organized a strong program to cater to the needs of the four dimensions of each camper (spiritual, physical, mental and social).

Camp Meeting 2003  The Adelaide SDA church’s mid week In-reach Revival under the theme "Lord, Send the Fire" was conducted by young Elder Duane Johnson.

The service began Wednesday, July 9th, at which time our small gathering met at the base of the mountain and began experiencing the Holy Spirit presence as Bro. Johnson preached on the condition of the Adventist church and the state in which we as members find ourselves at present..

The evening of the 11th being the beginning of Sabbath, we were reminded of the purpose of Revival, which is to "wake up the believers and members of Christ church to the realization of our complacency and our lukewarmness". That service advanced us several rungs up the ladder in our quest to reach the top of the mountain.

Sabbath morning continued with the topic "The Great Judgment Morning". Elder Duane mesmerized his audience with scene’s from Rev. 20:12-15. At the end of his presentation and the rededication prayer, all under the canopy of the tent felt the presence of God’s Holy Spirit in and among our small congregation. During the afternoon session, we were all blessed with Sis. Marlene McKinney’s health lecture.

Our vesper service concluded with a few spiritual songs that were presented by a few of our sister churches.

This writer’s conclusion is that we of the Adelaide SDA church had for the first time in our small church experienced what it must have felt like for Moses when he first experienced his mountain summit experience with Jehovah. As a result of the In-reach revival, it is our determination to allow the Holy Spirit to revive and remain with us until Christ shall come or call. - Bro. Phillip R. Young

"Made With a Purpose "  When God made you, you were made for more! That "more" was enveloped in your purpose....a purpose that can only be attained and sustained through the Divine Creator. The "Made for More" Young Women’s Conference held in South Andros, June 30th - July 3rd was designed to motivate all who were in attendance to realize their potential in God. Through rap sessions and messages presented on topics such as: "Made with a Purpose", "Vessel of Honor", "Identifying the "I" in You" and "Born to Overcome" with the help of our vibrant presenters (Andrea Musgrove, Miriam Knowles, Samantha Kerr and Anastacia Ferguson) that intent became a reality. We are indeed thankful to God for the seeds that were planted and pray that He will continue to water them with the Holy Spirit. Special thanks go out to our sponsors. - A. Ferguson
