Our Future Is In Jesus
Known for their innovation, surprises, excitement, and rare talents in music and drama, the youth of our Conference once again lived up to and surpassed expectations at the launch of Camp Meeting 2002. This central event to the summer youth calendar was launched on Sunday, July 29, 2002, at the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church on Harrold Road. Employing the theme "Inspired By The Past… Called To Shape The Future", Camp Meeting 2002 attracted the young, the restless, the righteous, the middle aged and the elderly night after night. So exciting and impacting was the opening night that it became necessary to share the service nation wide. Thanks to the Communication Department and ZNS, members and citizens throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas were able to enjoy most of the service.

On board to give the initial charge was Pastor Keith Albury, President of the Conference. He applauded Adventist Youth for their theme, noting its importance with relation to the fact that we live in a period classified as one of "…disconnectedness". Pastor Albury pointed out that many persons are inclined to distance themselves from their past and the past of those who have influenced and shaped our present ministry. He further noted that this attitude does not allow one to benefit from their past so that they may take these experiences and shape a better future.

Pastor PalmerFollowing Pastor Albury’s remarks the Conference’s Youth Director, Pastor Eric Danny Clarke, welcomed those in attendance as well as radio listeners. Additionally, he presented Pastor Pete Palmer, an anointed pulpiteer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This powerful man of God referred his audience to 2 Kings 5, the story of Namaan the Leper. Though this story of Naaman has been heard "umpteen" times, Sunday’s presentation contained new vistas of truth and applications that were refreshing and piercing. Pastor Palmer showed that God is a particular God, interested in our daily lives. He is concerned about what kind of food we put into our bodies, where we go after dark,Youth Drama and what church we attend.

Yet, that would not be all, for meeting after meeting the preacher unfolded and awakened in the listeners an interest for the Word of God. One individual remarked, "This brother is deep." This was truly a good old-fashioned revival time. Certainly, Pastor Clarke and his youth officers are to be commended for a spirit-filled speaker.

If you missed Camp Meeting 2002 this week you have missed a lot! However, there are a few more chances as Pastor Palmer speaks at Hillview this morning and again this afternoon at the music fest. Be sure to cash in on the final blessings as we have our service of reflections and thanksgiving on Sunday night.

We must express thanks to our youth organizers for a spirit-filled, powerful and relevant program. If they continue to lead according to the spirit, their future is assured and guaranteed in Christ.--Editor

McMillan Evangelizes in Belize On June 8, 2002, the largest evangelism tent crusade in Belize City, Belize, resulted in 130 baptisms. The crusade, titled "Campaign for Christ," was led by Evangelist Leslie V. McMillan, of the Inter-American Division. In spite of the rainy season, 800 people attended the crusades three weeks of evening programs. "This was truly a miracle," said Pastor Dennis Slusher, President of the Belize Mission. "It rained all around the city of Belize but not at the tent. If it did rain, it was not during meeting time, and even then it was light rain." New From Inter-American Division

Preparing for Winter Weddings Many Adventist engaged couples are preparing for their wedding ceremonies to be held in the months of November, December, January and February. These are outstanding months for weddings in the Bahamas. Remember, while planning for your wedding keep it sacred. Remember that the wedding ceremony is a sacred, solemn worship service, calling on God to bless the union of two people. Let your music display the true meaning of Gods love in marriage. Let you dress display Christian modesty and dignity. If you are getting married during the winter months, then July and August are the months to begin your pre-marriage counseling, if your havent done so already. A couple should have at least eight counseling sessions before they get marriage over a period of at least four six months. The pre-marriage sessions should cover the following subjects: Gods plan for marriage, religious values, roles, sexuality, finances, in-laws, health and family planning, values and goals, communication, creative problem solving, love and feelings, issues of power and control, starting a home, the wedding, the honeymoon, and after the wedding day. It is more important to prepare for your marriage than to prepare for your wedding. Adventist Counseling Services
