Conference Sponsors Libronix Bible Software Workshop
Seventh-day Adventists are known as “people
of the book.” We are renowned for our ability to expound the scriptures,
thus it is no surprise to find pastors, church members and elders gathered
at the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church, at the beginning of this week,
to participate in the
Libronix Bible Software
Workshop. Libronix is a Bible software that can seamlessly
integrate up to 10,000 volumes into one platform. It has been described as
having an assistant who goes through your entire library to find the
information that you need.
Last Sunday, elders and members from various churches and the community
gathered to engage in the process of sharpening their Bible study skills,
using the software.
On Monday and Tuesday, some of the pastors from the conference and others
from the community, had their opportunity to further their study skills,
using the software. Among them was Bishop Earl Mason from Tampa, and Dr.
Victor Cooper. Many of the attendees expressed their profound gratitude over
he information received and were quite enthused about what they learned.
Iris Metcalf, an attendee from Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple
Terrace, believes that “Everyone needs to take this class!” Dr. Earl Mason,
Sr. Pastor of this church says the seminar will “energize, enhance, and
empower” you. Morris Proctor, of Morris Proctor Seminars, the official
trainer for the Libronix Bible software, conducted the seminar. –Pastor L.

Orlando Health Summit The
Seventh-day Adventist Church is a church with a unique message of educating,
training and empowering mankind for eternity. God is a holistic God. He is
interested in total wellness for his people and that means being well
physically, mentally, socially and spiritually; hence a part of the mission
of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to make man whole.
In order to equip lay members to be able to empower others, there is a great
focus on training. One of these training programs is the Annual Health
Summit in Orlando, Florida, that trains health leaders and professionals
from parts of the United States and throughout the Caribbean. This program
is a joint venture between the Inter-American and North American Divisions
Health Ministries in partnership with Florida Hospital. This summit brings
together leading seminar speakers and workshops that are on the cutting edge
of technology and research. Participants are trained by the best in the
field of health education and wellness.
From January 28 to Feb. 3, a group of over ten excited Bahamians from both
Nassau and Grand Bahama attended the health summit in Orlando, Florida.
Among them were three pastors and seven health professionals and health
leaders. We all came back filled with ideas and information to share with
our churches and the community.
At the summit, there were over
twenty-five workshops from which to choose. Each participant could choose
only two during the week long seminar. Each workshop equipped participants
with manuals power point presentations and everything needed to conduct the
seminar in their country or church. Some of the seminars were: Eight Weeks
To Wellness, Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP), Fitness for Life,
Vegetarian Food Instructors Course, and Stress Management Expression
Recovery
During the opening address of the
Summit, we listened to a presentation about the longevity study done by
National Geographic. In this study, National Geographic interviewed many
Seventh-day Adventists over 100 years old, who are still living and enjoying
a good quality of life. They were interested in what kept these people alive
and well for so long. Some of the life-giving components they sited were:
· Their diet, which was mostly plant based;
· The fact that most of these people spent time outside in their gardens or
got some form of exercise each day;
· Loving supportive relationships with family and friends;
· A firm relationship with God.
The whole experience only confirmed to all of us that health and wellness is
not just the absent of disease, but being well physically, mentally,
socially and spiritually, and that we can only find the balance of total
health and wellness in Christ.
