Four Dimensions of the Sweet Redemptive Crusade

Dr. John Carey

Under the big white tent at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center, in Nassau, the four dimensional Sweet Redemptive Crusade started last Saturday night, February 16, 2008. Over 1500 persons gathered under and around the tent to hear Evangelist J. Wilmoth James speak on the opening night’s topic, “How to Cope with Everyday Problems….”

A team of dedicated administrators and pastors, Bible workers, health professionals, choir members, prayer warriors, ushers, registration personnel, technicians and others supported  the evangelist in lifting up the name of Jesus under the tent in four dimensions: preaching of the word, prayer, health lectures and inspirational music.

The curiosity of visitors and members has been aroused by the provocative topics Evangelist J. Wilmoth James has been presenting each night such as tonight’s topic, “Honey, darling, Doo! Doo! Yes, you can! Yes, you can!” The interest of the crowd under the tent as well as those who sit in their cars is maintained by the dynamic and unique way in which the evangelist presents the gospel. Evangelist James uses human interest stories to support the Bible-based messages. The stories with which the listeners can identify make the gospel real to them. One aspect of the preaching segment of the meetings that appeals to the people is the opportunity to read the Scriptures with the  evangelist. God is using the speaker in a mighty way to present His truth for this time.

Each evening a band of dedicated prayer warriors gather in the prayer tent to pray for the success of the meetings. Also, persons with special needs may go to the prayer area and request the praying saints to pray with them. At strategic times during the service the prayer warriors would pray for the evangelist and his listeners. The prayer ministry which is a vital part of crusade is greatly appreciated.

Adventists believe that the health message is part of the evangelistic program of the church. Therefore, a segment of the service has been set aside for the presentation of health tips or brief lectures on health. The health professionals take a few minutes each evening to give the audience practical health principles. We believe that a healthy person is in a better position to make a decision for Christ and can be a more effective disciple than a person in poor health.

Beginning with the lively song service, the sweet singing makes the audience come alive each evening. If you miss the song service, you miss an important part of the Sweet Redemptive Crusade. The song service sets the tone for the rest of the meeting. Led by the praise team, it creates the atmosphere for worship and serves as a preparation for the rest of the program. In addition, the choir specials and musical selections by others prepare the listeners to receive the word of God.

The first week of the Sweet Redemptive Crusade was a great success. As we prepare for the second week, let us go all out to make it bigger and better than the first. This means that in addition to the persons we invited last week, we will ask others to attend the meetings. If transportation is needed, contact your church transportation coordinator. If you are not yet actively involved, get involved in some aspect of the crusade. Speak with your pastor and he will tell you how you can become a part of the team. Time is running out, so let us do all we can for Christ now. Yes, you can do something. “Yes, you can! Yes, you can!”

Breath of Life Hosts Parent’s Seminar  Inspiring, refreshing and exciting are just some of the words to describe the Parents’ Seminar that was held February 10th, 2008, which was hosted by the Children’s Ministries Department.  Parents from various churches congregated at the Breath of Life Church to be motivated, encouraged and uplifted…and they were not disappointed.  The seminar commenced with devotion which was lead out by Elder Earl Thomas.  Sister Pansy Hamilton-Brown was the first presenter and she addressed the issue of discipline.  She encouraged parents to create an environment of discipline and structure now, which will determine the future behaviour of their children.  More Photos

Pansy Brown was followed by Pastor Barrington Brennen who focused on the issue of establishing positive self-esteem and confidence in our children.  A key statement made in this presentation was that parents ought to “listen so their child can talk and talk so their child can listen”.  He also advised parents that self-esteem is developed when children are encouraged to think independently.  The event was climaxed with Miriam Knowles’ presentation on communicating with your children.  She emphasized the importance of positive interaction between parents and children and encouraging them to express themselves intelligently.

Overall, all of the presentations were interactive and informative and each parent who attended the seminar, can attest its success.  Special thanks again to the presenters and those parents who attended. - Sheakiel Knowles
