From the Office of The President
It seems that it was only yesterday that I wrote to you regarding our regular monthly notes, but it was actually four weeks ago. This underscores the fleeting moments of time and demands that we do the work of God while it is still day, for the "night cometh when no man works."
  • Evangelistic Thrusts Given the preceding, I commend to you our three regional crusades. The Haitian crusade dubbed "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God", led out by Evangelist Edward St. Fleur, has already begun. The Power of Truth, with Evangelist T. Basil Sturrup at the Marathon Mall, and The Real Harvest Crusade, with Evangelist Peter Joseph, at the Golden Gates Shopping Center, kick off tomorrow evening. As you may be aware, there has been some complication experienced with the shipment of tents that necessitated a late start and full work days on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, our continued efforts and support are needed at both sites tonight for final touch ups and added readiness, in preparation for tomorrow's openings. Plan to do your part!
  • Trade Show It is not usual that we would have another program running concurrently with our crusades. In fact, when the calendar was made up it was determined to have the Trade Show during the mid-term break of Bahamas Academy and the crusades commencing a week earlier, but as it is obvious that did not work out hence these apparent conflicts. Nevertheless, I wish to assure all that the organizers of the Trade Show are fully involved in the crusades and will complete their dismantling as to allow for their attendance at their respective crusade. Additionally the Trade Show will be used to encourage non Adventists to attend the crusades. Expected to address tomorrow's Trade Show are the Hon. Leslie Miller, Minister of Trade and Industries, and Hon. Obie Wilchombe Minister of Tourism. The Trade Show commences at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
  • Union-Wide Prayer and Fasting March 5 is the designated Women's Ministries Prayer day throughout our Union. It was agreed to use the occasion to expand this emphasis by having a national day of prayer owing to the recent spate of crime and unrest, not only in the Bahamas but also in other territories of our Union. All pastors are aware of the same and will be promoting and encouraging your involvement. Coming on the heel of a successful prayer summit, the occasion should be a welcomed one. Also, it should be a time that we pray for the ongoing success of each crusade. I look forward to this day of special time with our Lord!
  • Bahamas Academy Building Just a friendly reminder regarding your pledge toward the building fund of Bahamas Academy! Hopefully, tomorrow the site for the Secondary division will be plotted allowing for construction of the foundation to begin. Continue to support this venture.
  • Thanks for the Offering Thanks for the offering for the Tsunami victims. Though it was not all that we anticipated, a note of thanks is in order. Remember that if you have not given, you may choose to do so today. Just be certain to mark your envelope properly.  President Leonard Johnson

Law Enforcement and Civil Servants' Service An appreciative crowd gathered for the special service held at Grant's Town last Sabbath afternoon Feb. 12, 2005. Pastor Michael Smith and the Grant's Town Church must be commended for hosting the Annual Adventist Law Enforcement and Civil |Servants' Thanksgiving Service this year. The parking attendants and ushers were "on the ball" as usual. They were very helpful in accommodating the visitors and members. The Ministry of Prayer: for Every Church Member Part II  Experiences From Sis. Willisey Adderley: Greetings, "Jesus Is Lord"

1.  In 1988, my son Adrian was born and the enemy afflicted him with jaundice, asthma and hernia. Although he took medication for jaundice and had surgery for the hernia, I prayed, and God healed him completely from the asthma.

2.  In 2000, God answered many specific prayers for me:

(a) My husband bought a boat in Florida and the captain who was to bring the boat to Nassau had a problem with immigration. I prayed over his passport and the Lord answered. He brought the boat in without any problems.

(b) Some months later, this same boat turned over in the tongue of the ocean with my husband and my son. They held onto the bow of the boat for some twelve hours. While I prayed, Basra rescued them, and the Basra official said it was a miracle.

(c) A customer of mine asked me to pray for her brother who was accused of shooting someone and was in police custody. I told her to ask him to: confess, if he did, and if he didn't to still confess to God for his sinful ways. He did, I prayed, and in a week he was released. Praise be to God.

(d) On a Friday afternoon, I received a letter from the court evicting me out of my house within ten days, and this was a holiday weekend. I called some prayer partners: Sis N. McCalla and Sis. E. Anderson.

We fasted and prayed. The same bank manager who said he had a sale for my house, was the same man God used a week later to rewrite the loan, giving me the option to set the payments. I thank my God who says: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you."

3.  On a Saturday evening about midnight in 2002, I was having serious pains in my head and my back. We had no pain killers, and I could not get out of bed. About 2:30 a.m., the pain was so severe, I rolled out of bed to my knees and my husband lifted me in the car and took me to the hospital. I was sent home because of other emergency cases. On Monday, my private doctor took an M.R.I. and diagnosed me with cervical spondelosis, saying I had five vertebrae damaged beyond repair, four vertebrae that can be replaced only with surgery. My Pastor, Hugh A. Roach, came and prayed for me. Then I arranged to see a doctor in Miami, and I called the prayer warriors: Pastor Wilfred Adderley, Pastor Jeremiah Joan. Duncombe and Nora McCalla. They anointed me and prayed. The surgery was scheduled for March 11th, 2002. About 3:00 a.m. one morning before March 11, I was praying and God clearly spoke to my mind saying: "Surgery cancelled," just two words. I was silent and surprised, but I continued praying and the voice again said: "Surgery cancelled." I stopped praying for a while and began again. The voice said the third time much louder "Surgery cancelled." I then began to thank and praise the Lord for His confirmation of healing. The surgery was not necessary, I only took months of therapy and I'm healed today. The Lord gave me these scriptures as "source of comfort": Psalms 119:71, Isaiah 48:10 and Isaiah 48:11-12. Praise, Glory and honour be to my God and King. -Pastor W. T. Adderley
