Pentecost and
More Involves the Youth, Too
While
we give special attention to the young people in our conference this
weekend, we must continue to promote “Pentecost and More;” for this
programme involves the young people of the church, too. Therefore, instead
of relegating this evangelism initiative to the older members of the church,
we must unite – young and old – to accomplish the mission of the church,
which is to prepare others and ourselves for the coming of the Lord.
Objective of the Programme
It
is important to note that “Pentecost and More” is an evangelism programme
that is a part of an initiative of the Inter-American Division of the
General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to baptize the three millionth
member of the Adventist Church in the Inter-American Division, on Saturday,
March 24, 2007. Led by Pastor Israel Leito, President of this Division, we
anticipate a grand celebration of the miracle of conversion and the baptism
of the three millionth precious member for the kingdom of heaven.
Everyone
Involved
As
we seek to spread the good news of salvation through Christ, every member,
every pastor, and every Adventist Church is expected to participate in
preparing candidates for a Union-wide baptism on March 24. If the objective
is to be realized, we have to start now, and use every available avenue that
will lead us toward our goal. One avenue that is open to every member is the
distribution of Bible-based literature. And an excellent reader friendly,
message-filled, family oriented magazine that is available in abundance is
Priorities. Young people can target their friends, and adults can
contact their neighbours, friends and people with whom they work, and keep
them supplied with literature. A follow-up to this could be an invitation to
Bible study or an evangelistic series. There are many other ways of reaching
people that your pastor will be pleased to share with you.
Reaping
the Harvest
At
10:00 a.m. on Sabbath, March 24, Pastor Jan Paulsen, President of the
Adventist World Church, will be the speaker for this special service. The
service will be carried live by satellite uplink from the Dominican Republic
Sports Centre to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mandeville, Jamaica and
other church down-link sites throughout West Indies Union. The programme
will also be on the Internet. Everybody who is interested will be able to
witness the historic baptism.
Local
Down-link Sites
We
are hoping that most of our churches or districts will have a down-link site
to accommodate their members. The Communication Department of the conference
is willing to help churches that would like some assistance in setting up
their site. Please call Pastor Carey or Pastor Brennen to make arrangements
for assistance (341-4021).
A
poster advertising the “Pentecost and More” programme has been sent to all
the churches, so you will be constantly reminded of this once-in-a-lifetime
event. Let us continue to sow the seeds of truth and get ready to reap a
great harvest.
Eleuthera District Says Farewell
On
Sabbath, January 27, 2007 all churches in the Eleuthera
District came
together, at the Bluff Seventh-day Adventist Church, to worship God and
fellowship with one another and to bid farewell to Pastor Lynden O.
Williams. The day began with an informative Sabbath School followed by a
sobering divine service.

During the divine hour, Pastor Williams spoke on the topic “A Vision for
Mission.” Using 2Corinthians 5:17-20 as his key text, he admonished the
saints to become new creatures by surrendering their lives completely to
Jesus.
Three
deacons from the Bluff church, Bros. Navicha, Mesidor, Similien and brother
Neymour from the James Cistern church, along with Elder Haldore Russell from
James Cistern were ordained to serve in their respective churches.
The atmosphere was emotionally charged when presentations were made to
Pastor Williams from the Bluff and Tarpum Bay churches. The morning ended
with a scrumptious meal and time of fellowship. –Sis. Sheena Duncombe
