Pastor Bryan Says, “Help Is On The Way”

A young and vibrant preacher, Pastor Kevin Bryan, guest speaker for the second week of the "Jesus or Nuttin" youth crusade, gave a stimulative opening message last Sunday night, July 23, 2006, at the Grant's Town Seventh-day Adventist Church on Wellington Street. However, before getting into the message for the evening, "Help Is On the Way," this fearless preacher challenged the leaders of the Adventist Church to give the young people an opportunity to serve in meaningful positions in the church. He sincerely believes that there are talented young people who can make significant contributions to the church if given a chance to serve.

God Wants to Save Us  God who knows everything was aware that man would sin before this world was created, so nothing that happens to us takes God by surprise. Therefore, when our first parents, Adam and Eve, "ate us out of house and land," God had already set up the plan to save mankind. He had given Adam and Eve guidelines to govern their behavior, but when they disobeyed, they lost their Eden home. Then the virus of sin spread down through the generations.

Noah Warns the People God looked down and saw the wickedness of man. But as He looked around, He saw a man called Noah who was faithful. In spite of the conditions prevailing around him, Noah had an intimate relationship with God. He found grace in the eyes of the Lord. God was pleased with Noah's way of life, so He confided in Noah that He was about to destroy the earth with a flood. Is God pleased wit your behavior?  Noah had never seen a flood before, yet he believed what God said; and he preached a clear message warning the people and asking them to repent. He did not preach a smooth message. The people didn't need "feel good" sermons. So Noah gave them the Word of the Lord. Those who did not listen were shut out of the ark of safety.
Now some people are only hearers of the Word, but they don't want to adhere to the Word. We need to be hearers and doers of the Word of God. Don't allow anything to cause you to be shut out of the Kingdom.

God is Still Calling People God is still calling people to repentance, and He expects those who are converted in the church to call others to be a part of His Kingdom. We can draw people to Christ or we can drive them from Him by our attitude toward them. Those who are always causing trouble in the church are not spiritual and will drive others away from Jesus. On the other hand, you should not allow anyone to chase you out of the church and away from God. Just pray for God's guidance and His Holy Spirit will keep you faithful to Him.  When just a teenager, the speaker bought a suit that he thought was acceptable, but members of his church laughed at him when he wore it. He was so hurt that he wanted to leave the church, but one Christian sister encouraged him and helped him to get a better suit. This sister's kindness prevented him from leaving the church and rejecting Christ.

Ministry of Reconciliation God has given the church the Ministry of Reconciliation. Through Jesus and the Holy Spirit we are reconciled to God. When we show the love of Jesus to hurting and fallen members, we become agents of reconciliation. And as we pray for those who are weak, they renew their faith in God and the church.

Victims of Appetite After the flood, Noah and his family worshipped God. They were encouraged by the Rainbow, a symbol that God would not destroy the earth again with a flood. But after all that Noah had seen, heard and experienced, he became drunk and naked. So often Noah's posture after the flood is our posture. Like Adam and Eve, Noah was a victim of appitite.
Like Noah, many of us are drunk after going through a lot of "stuff" and we become victims of appetite (appetite for sexual, power, money, etc.). Then we are exposed in our nakedness. But Jesus sees our condition and covers us. Covered by His robe of righteousness, we become victors instead of victims.
