The Administration of Bahamas Conference Says Thanks

Thanks! Thanks! I Give You Thanks. Conveying a basic message of thanks, these words are not new but are lyrics of a popular song rendered by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

Volunteer Bahamas Adventist Acklins Team
On behalf of my fellow colleagues in administration, I register profound appreciation to a group of volunteers headed by Pastor Royden Hanna, Cecil Cartwright, Volunteer Bahamas Adventist Vice President, and Andrew Hanna, Coordinator of the Acklins team. These men supported by a team of faithful volunteers sacrificed time and personal gain for an opportunity to bless the few members in Acklins with a newly constructed church building situated in Lovely Bay, Acklins. This building, which has already been used for service, will be completed shortly and is another to be added to the accomplishments of VBA headed by Brother Winston Ash.
The Conference is indebted to the men and women associated with VBA who provide labor and skill at a reduced cost, and in some instances at no charge to the church. Conference Treasurer, Elder Lewis, will be the first to explain that were it not for this spirit of volunteerism, it would have been impossible for us to have completed The Stevens Church in Long Island, Bahamas Academy Early Center, significant work on The Lowe Sound and High Rock churches in North and South Andros, respectively. Also, it would be hard to put a dollar figure to the work accomplished on the building under construction at the new Bahamas Academy site on Marshall Road.

Contribution of Members
Therefore, I say thanks to all members; for we are mindful of the monetary gifts given weekly and monthly to assist with the capital development projects of the Conference. It may please you to know that we recently received an amount of $10,000 from an anonymous donor toward the project. Additionally, our pastors continue to give monthly to keep the project on course. Special thanks to Pastor Hugh Roach for his persistent spirit in seeking to raise needed funds. With the appointment of an active Fundraising Committee, we are confident that the funds needed to complete the school will be raised. Be willing to do your part when called upon.

Crusades
As most of our pastoral districts are currently involved in evangelism, this season could rightly be termed a time of harvest and refreshing. In fact, I will lead by example, as I commence a three-week campaign at Centreville, beginning tonight. Pray for and support these meetings at all of our centers. Commendations to Pastor Michael Toote and the Breath of Life members who launched in February and are now finished with nine baptisms reported. Also, Pastor Peter Joseph our Ministerial and Personal Ministries Director, assisted by Bro. Vernal Rolle, baptized over 150 persons in Montego Bay, Jamaica. To God be the Glory!

Pentecost and More
Just a few weeks from now, the Pentecost and More evangelistic drive will culminate with baptisms throughout our Division. On Sabbath, March 24, we believe that The Inter-American Division will reach the three millionth membership mark. It is exciting to think that we in the Bahamas Conference will be a part of this historic achievement. Again, I say thanks for your faithfulness, but above all, we must give thanks to the Almighty God who has blessed and continues to bless His people.

Religious Liberty
Finally, My wife and I are grateful that we were privileged to travel to the International Religious Liberty Congress in South Africa. As a result of this experience, our appreciation for religious liberty was deepened. Let's be faithful in witnessing for the Lord under all circumstances.- Dr. Leonard A. Johnson, President, Bahamas Conference.

Lovely Bay, Acklins Island Adventist Church Construction Recently Pastor Roy I. Hanna, Brother O. Darling along with Nine (9) Volunteer Bahamas Adventist (V.B.A.) members left Nassau to go to Acklins aboard Bahamasair. Headed by Elder Cecil A. Cartwright, Vice President for V.B.A., the men arrived at the Airport where they were met by Elder Terrance Collie, Brother Louis and Sister Patricia Cleare who took them to Lovely Bay. Upon arrival at Lovely Bay, they immediately went to work.  They laboured until dark, setting up the stud framing for the new church building. They worked hard and long Thursday and Friday, until the building had advanced to the point where the church members along with the members of V.B.A., were able to hold the first Sabbath Service in the new building. Work resumed following the setting of the sun.
The persons going on the trip included Elder Andrew Hanna, coordinator, Elder Howard Barr, Brothers Alvin Collie, Elvardo Perpall, Egline Joseph, Comfort Miller, O'Neill Miller and Marlvin Taylor. - Cecil Cartwright, Vice President, VBA

The Spirit of Evangelism The spirit of evangelism is in the air. In fact, one pastor, Dr. Michael Toote, just concluded thDr. Michael Toote, Lawyer/Pastore third week of a series called the "Abundant Life in Christ Bible Seminar." The meetings were conducted at the Breath of Life Church on Marshall Road. At a service of thanksgiving and praise last Sabbath afternoon, certificates for the nine persons who were baptized in this short series were distributed. Other certificates were given to those who attended the seminar and qualified as instructors. During the testimony segment of the thanksgiving service new and old members spoke of how much they learned by attending the meetings. Congratulations to Dr. Toote and his team!

The other churches started their meetings last week. Most of the meetings are being conducted in the church buildings and will conclude on March 24. This is the date for the conclusion of our Inter-American Division initiated programme, "Pentecost and More." We anticipate the baptism of the three millionth member in Inter-America on that Sabbath. Members, continue to support the meetings in you area. Your church is depending on you. Do your best to attend the meetings and invite your friends, family members and others to attend. Serve in whatever capacity you are capable of serving, and be a part of the success that your church will experience in this "Pentecost and More" campaign.

Pastor Peter Joseph has just completed a successful campaign in Jamaica. We welcome him back home. The report we received is that 150 souls responded to the invitation to accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. To God be the glory for what has been done. - John Carey

Children's Ministries Workshop Creative, engaging, exciting, informative and spiritual are the words that describe a little of what we experienced at The Lower Division Teacher's Workshop. The morning was warm as the Sabbath school teachers from the various churches in Nassau gathered in the main sanctuary of The Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church.
We began the workshop with a vibrant devotional period, which included an upbeat song service, opening prayer, interactive welcome, a soul stirring solo and a most timely devotional thought!
We then divided into our Sabbath school units, as we were told that we would be students for the day. And boy! We were in for a treat! The class activities were well prepared, innovative, artistic, imaginative and of course enjoyed by all. We all co-operated to the fullest- that is all but naughty Sabrina who kept the teachers on there P's and Q's. We then shared our ideas and experiences in an effort to improve our individual Sabbath Schools. At the end of the day, we were all bubbling over with new ideas, resources and first hand experiences on what we as Sabbath School Teachers need to implement in order to be successful! The next Workshop promises to be even more engaging! Don't Miss It!!! -Antwanette Lewis / Roxann Munroe - Chea
