Family
Enrichment Series Made a Difference
For the last five weeks, under the inspiration
of the Holy Spirit and supported by a dedicated team
of
pastors, Prayer Warriors and Bible Workers, Dr. Alanzo Smith led the attack
on the forces of evil with potent, practical Bible-based messages that made
a difference in the lives of thousands of Bahamian families. With a nightly
audience of about 2000 under and around the tents at the Queen Elizabeth
Sport’s Center, and hundreds more listening over the Internet, Evangelist
Smith presented the gospel of Jesus Christ with power and conviction. His
appeals were pointed and urged those who responded to confirm their decision
for Christ in baptism. We give God all the praise and the glory for the many
lives that were changed.
Thank You! Words are inadequate to
express appreciation to all of you who assisted with the Family Enrichment
Series during the past 5 weeks. It is because of your faithfulness and
commitment that the series was a blessing to our Conference, nation and
especially to families. Families have been greatly equipped to deal with the
many issues that confront them. Thanks to God who directed Dr. Alanzo Smith
to come to the Bahamas for this season to preach “The Elijah’s Message”
which essentially turns the hearts of the children and parents back to God.
Also, isn’t fitting that our Adult Sabbath School bears out the same
message? God is in the business of saving the family, and that includes you
and me!
A Team Effort A team effort best describes what both members
and pastors accomplished. Directed by our Coordinator, Pastor Peter Joseph,
in a most impressive revival, our focus was directed toward spiritual
readiness. This, however, was preceded by the School of Evangelism (also
spearheaded by Pastor Joseph), which served to equip the Bible Workers and
Prayer Warriors for the crusade. Also, many of you members attended choir
rehearsal weeks in advance of the crusade; and you also participated in
other meetings to fine tune the different areas of the crusade. Once the
meetings commenced, some of you housed and fed guests, encouraged one
another, lectured on health, sang and played musical instruments that
contributed to the excitement of the meetings. Additionally, others
announced items and presented the speaker. Then you financed the meetings as
well as your own transportation to and from the meetings. And if that were
not enough, you taped the meetings, projected the sermons on large screens
and transmitted them live over the Internet. You also secured the premises,
prayed nightly and invited your friends. Together, all these acts ensured
that the meetings were successful. Thus I say, “A Million Thanks.”
Nurturing Is Crucial With nearly 350 baptized during the
crusade, these new believers are a significant segment of those who need
special attention in our churches. I need not explain how important it is
that we nurture these babes in Christ. We need patience, understanding and
commitment to do this effectively. Of course, through Christ, we are capable
of accomplishing the task. I encourage that you work with your pastors to
make certain that those assigned to you experience growth and Christian
maturity. Based on some of the testimonies I heard at the early Morning
Prayer Service on Sunday, March 19, I know that growth is not going to be a
challenge for many of our new brothers and sisters. So I also encourage you
new converts to study the Bible and pray daily for God’s guidance, and you
will grow in knowledge and in the likeness of Christ.
