It
is the month of May, national youth month in the Bahamas. Each year, the
month kicks off with the National Youth Rally and Parade. It seemed as if
the sun was smiling with anticipation and excitement as thousands of young
people assembled at Clifford Park on Sunday afternoon. The heat was
blistering, but it did not deter the many groups from participating. After a
rally and an address by the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, it was time to
hit the streets. SEE

The Pathfinders did not lead the parade in terms of order, but although we were the third group out, we led the parade in numbers, and discipline. We have always had the largest number of young people in uniform and others in T-shirt for the past several parades. Sunday May 4th, 2003, was no exception. These parades are more than just numbers and marching, though we bask in the glory. It is about taking a positive message to this nation. Despite completing the Masterguide camporee and Impact Nassau, just two weeks earlier, over six hundred uniformed Pathfinders, Adventurers, and Masterguides and others once again marched behind the banner of our Captain, Jesus. The words of the Pathfinder song are so fitting. "Oh we are the Pathfinders strong… Faithful as we march along in truth and purity. A message to tell to the world, a truth that will set us free." Perseverance and endurance were the characteristics of this and other parades. We finished in step and we finished in style. We did not fall out of the National Youth Parade. Let none fall out of this Christian race. Let us endure until the end. Yes the parade is finished until another time, but there are other events on the Youth Ministries calendar. All persons who attended the recent Masterguide camporee are asked to attend a meeting at Hillview tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. If you did not attend the camporee, then join us on Saturday afternoon, May 17, at the Berea Seventh-day Day Church for a joint Adventist Youth program. Come and get an insight into the first ever West Indies Union Masterguides camporee held in Bahamas Conference Of SDA

Why Do We Need Literature Evangelists? With so much emphasis on the electronic media as a source of information and entertainment in our Bahamian society, some people wonder "why do we need Literature evangelists?" Northern Caribbean University Distance learning In an effort to meet the demand for graduate level education, Northern Caribbean University has decided to establish a Distance Learning Center to facilitate the offering of MA and Doctorate degrees in various disciplines here in the Bahamas. This distributed educational initiative has two components. The first is the ability to pursue a degree via Internet and e-mails. The second is a video and teleconferencing seminar room that would serve as a remote site for synchronous meetings in disciplines that require regional groups to meet together regularly. We solicit your much-needed support in this venture as we strive to further Christian Education in our region. For additional information, please contact Bro. Barry Saunders, Project Coordinator, at 356-8367, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Alumni are reminded that its not to late to give their monetary contribution to NCU.
