Pentecost and More – Lay Campaigns

No one can gainsay the success of "Pentecost and More" in our field.  During the first quarter of this year, well over 450 people were added to the church by baptism in the Bahamas Conference.  Inherent in this feat is a spiritual significance that must never be forgotten.  Pentecost is repeatable.  The Holy Spirit still infuses a formed and united body of believers for the awesome task of winning souls.

On March 15, 2008, over three thousand people were baptized across West Indies Union.  If we put self and self-interest aside and make room for the Holy Spirit, the church will perennially experience extraordinary life and vigor that makes her attractive in a revolting world.

During the month of May 2008, lay preachers across the Bahamas Conference will engage in an evangelistic explosion captioned, "Pentecost and More Lay Campaigns".  Pastors are now actively preparing and equipping lay preachers for this experience.  Enthusiasm runs high as lay preachers across the conference urgently await the launching of these campaigns.  Again, the Holy Spirit will accompany His people, and the results will bring glory to Jesus Christ.

I call upon pastors and church members in the local churches to press together for the proclamation of the gospel and a rich harvest of souls.  Let us experience Pentecost and More. Pastor Peter Joseph, Ministerial, Personal Ministries & Sabbath School Director

The President Shares About the New Bahamas Academy.     Not Ready for 2008  By now it should be known that the new school will not be ready for September, 2008. Nevertheless, significant progress has been made since we met at the site for the January's convention.  Here’s an update.

Quantity Survey Report The Quantity Survey Report (Appraisal Report) is complete and is in hand. While this report has been costly, I am pleased to report that it provides us with vital information. Such information includes construction stages, materials, finished work, work to be completed and costs associated with the same. The report shows that the total cost of the Secondary Division is estimated at 12 million dollars. This represents the cost of land (land was donated by the government), professional and building permit fees, materials, labor and landscaping. To complete, it will cost 6 million dollars. Work completed inclusive of material is pegged at approximately 3 million dollars. Considering that we spent approximately one million dollars one might ask "How can this be?"

The explanation resides with the unselfish involvement of Volunteer Bahamas Adventist (VBA) a similar program to Maranatha International. This local group of volunteers under the able leadership of Winston Ash, has done much to ensure the current level of progress. Without the support of VBA, we could not have done so much with so little, and the quality of the work has not been compromised. If you have doubts, check with our local inspector, Cecil Cartwright, a former government inspector. It is amazing what God is doing!

Grant Proposal Another document critical to the completion of this project is the preparation of a grant proposal. I have good news -this report (draft) will be ready for the fundraising committee by next week. Once this proposal would have been sanctioned by the committee it will be personalized and delivered personally to targeted persons and establishments. I need not tell you how important this is to our fundraising drive. Friends, God is able, if we are tempted to doubt Him, it will do us good just to look at where we are and where we are coming from and the funds expended. As indicated we have gotten significantly more that we have put in -this can only be God's doing. This same God will see the project through. I believe it --what about you?

Finally, here is a thought for you to ponder:   “God never leads His children otherwise than they would choose to be led, if they could see the end from the beginning, and discern the glory of the purpose which they are fulfilling as co-workers with Him” Desire of Ages (224).  Pastor Leonard Johnson, president
