Adventist Woman Reaping God's Harvest in 2004

Marva Farquharson is an enthusiastic lay preacher of the Breath of Life and the Message of Hope Seventh-day Adventist Churches, Nassau, Bahamas. She has been preaching the gospel for more than 29 years. Marva was the first female (nineteen years ago) to be ordained as a local elder in the Adventist Church in the Bahamas. She was living in Freeport at the time and was employed at the Department of Public Service as assistant secretary responsible for the Freeport office of the Department of Public Service. Currently, Marva Farquharson is Deputy Director of Human Resource for the Public Hospitals Authority in the Bahamas, which include Princess Margaret Hospital, Sandilands Rehabilitation Center and the Rand Memorial Hospital. She is a single mother of one daughter, Marvette, age sixteen. Marvette is an eleventh grade student at Bahamas Academy.

Marva traveled to Eleuthera August 13, 2004, with twelve Mastergudies in Training from the Breath of Life Church, to conduct an evangelistic series in Central Eleuthera. Marva preached the gospel of Christ for two weeks at the James Cistern Church. The team visited members and community persons from Rock Sound in the south to Spanish Wells in the north, covering more than one hundred miles each day. The team visited Spanish Wells because of the interest of a couple that was watching 3ABN and became interested in the Adventist message. The couple was led by God’s Spirit, through the medium of the television, to change their lifestyle and become a part of the Adventist Church. Marva Farquharson visited with the couple and prepared them for baptism. On Sabbath, August 28, 2004, this couple and four other individuals were baptized by Pastor Lynden William, district pastor. Judy and Edmund Albury of Spanish Wells, became the first persons to be baptized in to the Adventist Church on that Island. We praise God. Other residents on Spanish Wells are also watching 3ABN and are showing interest in knowing more about Christ. By God’s grace, Marva and her team will continue to evangelize the islands for Jesus. Let us pray for them.  Contact Marva at mfarquharson@coralwave.com See photos below of those who were baptized and the team.
