Ministerial Student Assists in Eleuthera

On Sabbath October 8, 2005, Timothy Neilly was ordained as an elder of the Rock Sound Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Bahamian, Timothy Neilly, a  twenty-two year old grand son of  Eureka Youngblood, is a ministerial student at Oakwood College, Huntsville Alabama.  He decided to take a year off from school to gain experience in doing missionary work.   He is assisting Pastor Lynden Williams in the Eleuthera District of Adventist Churches (four churches on the island), with direct responsibilities for the Rock Sound Seventh-day Adventist Church.  (Photo on left:  Timothy is assisting the principal of North Eleuthera High School in giving out certificates at the Awards Ceremony held Wednesday, September 28, 2005  Click on photo to enlarge)

Timothy is energetic and innovative. His friendly and kind spirit is opening hearts, both young and old, all over the island of Eleuthera.    Since coming to Eleuthera a few months ago, he has revived the services of the church, and began making inroads into the community with one-to-one evangelism.  He has rescheduled the mid-week service for the Rock Sound Church to Tuesday to facilitate his leading out at the Tarpum Bay Church (fifteen miles away) with its mid-week service on Wednesdays. He is also making his presence felt through the Adopt-A-Class Program of the North Eleuthera High School. This is a program where individuals interact with a class once a week for seven weeks, teaching the young men and women how to make life-changing decisions.  Click on photos to enlarge.

Tonique Williams-Darling Highway

[October 3, 2005]  On Monday, October 3, 2005, at 4:00 p.m., Harrold Road, the street address for the Bahamas Conference,  will be changed to Tonique W. Darling Highway in a special opening ceremony of the newly reconstructed highway.   Tonique Williams-Darling is a athletic hero for the Bahamas.  "She is the first Bahamian in history to win an Olympic gold medal (track and field) and is a World Champion at the same time; that is a rarity," according to the Nassau Guardian.   Harrold Road, now Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, is no longer a single carriage highway.  It is a dual carriage, double lane highway, with excellent drainage system for heavy downpour of rain and very bright street lights.
