After a successful evangelistic series entitled “Countdown to the End Campaign” which was held January 17 to February 20, 2010 in the Cayman Islands Conference, 205 persons were baptized as a new church was organized.  The preacher for the series was Pastor Shian O’Conner, Family Ministries Director and Public Affairs & Religious Liberty Director of the Cayman Islands Conference.

Pastor Eric D. Clarke, president of the Cayman Island Conference said that “it was our joy of having established a new congregation on Sabbath 20 February, 2010.”  He said that “the Executive Committee of the Cayman Islands Conference met on Thursday, February 18, 2010 and approved the establishment of a new congregation, the Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church, with Pastor Shian O'Connor as the new pastor.  The new congregation worship in the auditorium of one of the local government schools and efforts are ongoing to lease property for the erection of a church.

The crusade series is online at countdowntotheend.net or justintv/caymanconference.org

Pastor Clarke stressed that  “the love, unity and excitement was contagious as new members were integrated into the family and shared their testimonies of how God used Pastor O’Connor to meet their needs and bring conviction to their hearts.

According to the our source from Cayman Islands, Pastor Sethres Dixon served as Assistant Evangelist and Pastor Caple Thompson served as campaign manager for the successful series of meetings.   The Cayman Conference is diverse with two Spanish churches, a Filipino church and twelve English speaking churches.  For the first two months of 2010, 220 persons have been baptized which is 76% of our baptismal goal for the Conference.  See photos below.

Five Marathon Pastors Hit the Road Running

Five Seventh-day Adventist pastors in The Bahamas Conference participated in the First International Bahamas Marathon held on Sunday, February 14, 2010.   The event was sponsored by Sunshine Insurance Company and promoted by The Ministry of Tourism.  Marathon Bahamas is the first international marathon of The Bahamas in the 21st Century.  It brought together more than 600 runners from around The Bahamas as well as internationally. Marathon Bahamas will be an annual event that the organizers hope will attract professional and amateur runners from around the world.  More that 100 international runners participated.  The next Marathon Bahamas will be on Sunday, January 16, 2011.

The twenty-six mile run meandered through the scenic roads of New Providence.   Runner were able to choose to run the entire marathon, half marathon, or participate in a relay.  Five Adventist pastors: Jeremiah Duncombe, Leroy Sewell, Andrew Burrows, Leo Rolle, and Wilson Isnord, joined by one Adventist lay person, Gladstone Major (head deacon at the New Providence Church) joined the skills and muscle in the first Adventist leaders team  ( See list of winners  note "Sda Pastors" on the list ).  The team completed the race in great form with some of the top international runners.  In the photo they are posing with their medals of participation.

Nathelyn LaCroix, another Adventist runner in the Marathon, placed 94th in the female division.  Wonderful, Nathelyn.  Below you can see Shavonne Lightfoot warming up before the marathon.   The exciting news is that our school, Bahamas Academy, also participated in the marathon with two relay teams and came first in the school division.  Congratulations Bahamas Academy! Adventist Teacher Honored in San Salvador

Abigale Ralph

San Salvador's Teacher of the Year '09 -'10

Abigale Ralph, a teacher at the San Salvador High School and a member of the the Cockburn Town Seventh-day Adventist Church was awarded as San Salvador’s Teacher of the Year 2009-2010.  There were services on Sabbath February 13, 2010 at the Church and on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the public school to honor Ms Ralph.   She teaches at the San Salvador Public High School.

Various civic leaders came to show their gratitude for her service.  Speaking at both services was the resident pastor for the Cockburn Town Seventh-day Adventist Church,  Larry L. Green.  He took both occasions to focus their attention on God who is the one who is truly molding lives for the future generation. He also used the occasion to reaffirm Abigale Ralph and the other teachers to look beyond the trials they might face as teachers and continue to educate for service not only in this world but the world to come.    Pastor Green called for parents, teachers, and religious and civic leaders to work together to "Mold the Future Generation" when he echoed the school motto "Together We Can".   The Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists takes this opportunity to publicly congratulate our Abigale Ralph, a companion in ministry.  See more photos below.
